Nine Thousand years ago, a vast system of rivers, lakes, lagoons and islands was enclosed by 140 kilometres of the most secluded, untouched ocean beaches in the world — to create the largest inland waterway system in Australia.

The Lakes’ gentle waters and undisturbed islands provide a haven for a staggering array of wildlife. There is a section of mainland coastline and islands in Victoria which showcases Australia’s fabled native animals. It is the scene of some of the most remarkable event nature has to offer.
