Island Time - Accommodation Facilities.

"Island Time" at Vivonne Bay is a modern 2 bedroom house with all conveniences.

The house is 200 metres from Vivonne Bay beach, which was voted in 2003 the best beach in Australia in a comparison of 10,000 beaches. It's not hard to see why, even in midsummer you can be the only person on 20k of pristine beach.

To the north the beach sweeps around 3 headlands to Seal Bay while at its southern end is the only safe harbour on the south coast which is home to the island's crayfishing fleet. There is good fishing from the beach or jetty, safe swimming by the jetty and good surfing along the beach.

All of the major tourist attractions are clustered along the south coast and Vivonne Bay is the only township central to these attractions. Vivonne Bay itself is surrounded by National Park and has abundant local wildlife including wallabies, echidnas, goannas, possums, beautiful blue wrens, sea lions and penguins.

The house features an open plan lounge, dining & kitchen, reverse cycle air conditioning, telephone (local calls free, card required for STD). It sleeps four people with all the linen supplied, a modern fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower & toilet. There is no TV reception but a comprehensive selection of videos and CDs is supplied.

Tea, coffee, sugar, soap and shampoo is initially supplied, all other requirements can be obtained from the general store which is a 2 minute drive away.

There is a huge deck with a BBQ and views over a wooded valley and out to distant hills, also glimpses of the sea. At night on the deck it is so quiet and so dark you can feel your worldly cares disappear.

The island itself is larger than tourists imagine and we recommend a minimum 3 night stay if you wish to see most of the major tourist attractions. You will need to stay longer if you also want to have time to unwind in a truly remote, quiet, beautiful part of the world.
