Adelaide Information

The buzz, culture and convenience of a big city without the frustrations - that’s Adelaide. Restaurant bills are a pleasant surprise, the traffic moves, locals are courteous.

A band of parkland surrounds the city square mile and there are even green zones inside the city centre - Adelaide Botanic Gardens, the legendary Adelaide Oval. The city’s major performance arts venue sits adjacent to Elder Park and beside the River Torrens.

The Art Gallery Museum and Tandanya all have notable collections of Aboriginal art and artefacts. Colourful Adelaide Central Market is the true heart of this food-and-wine obsessed city. Explore the market then head down Gouger Street to take your pick of international cuisines.

You’ll find plenty of opportunity for retail therapy in the department stores and arcades of Rundle Mall while suburban villages - Burnside, North Adelaide, Unley and Hyde Park - all close to the city, offer designer shopping and cafes.

The Glenelg Tram regularly departs from Victoria Square, destination Glenelg’s Jetty Road and the beach, a 15-minute trip to the most lively section of a 30-kilometre coastline. Port Adelaide’s Maritime Museum is well worth seeing and Henley Square is a good spot to watch the sun set over the Southern Ocean.
