About, Facilities, Activities

Magnetic Island's premier family holiday resort.

Island Leisure Resort is located on beautiful Magnetic Island which is just offshore from Townsville in the central section of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

Ideally situated in Nelly Bay, only 50 metres from the beach and about 150 metres from the supermarket and other shops, Island Leisure Resort is close to the new harbour and marina due to open soon. Within walking distance of cafes and restaurants, and the island bus service stops at our door.

We have only 17 bure style units so you never get that crowded feeling, and there is always plenty of room at the pool and always booking times available for tennis.

On arrival you will be greeted by one of the friendly staff and be comfortably settled in your unit with a minimum of fuss.

The units are set in lush tropical gardens, and there is an array of wild-life including beautiful birds, curlews and possums, which gives you the feeling of tranquility and nature at peace.

Our large lagoon style pool incorporates a spa and 'beach area' for small children to play, and has plenty of room for guests to relax. A favourite place on hot days and warm nights.

Adjacent to the pool complex is our tennis court, which also has lights for night play, and use of the court including provision of raquets and balls is available free to our guests.

The pool-side BBQ area is a great place of enjoyment for our guests in the evenings. Relax by the pool, cook up some exotic fare, sip an ice cold wine or beer, good company. Life doesn't get much better.

At reception there are full tour desk facilities, and we can assist you in selecting and booking the most suitable activities and tours to maximise the enjoyment of your holiday with us.

Adjacent to reception is the kiosk which, whilst not serving meals, has a good range of beers, wines, mixers, soft drinks, ice creams and chips, together with toasted sandwiches.

Island Leisure Resort has a lot to offer the holiday-maker. Our facilities include:

  • Lagoon style pool and spa

  • Poolside BBQ area
  • Library/Book Exchange
  • Pensioner discounts
  • Tennis court (day & night)
