Facilities: great- there was a nice shaped pool and spa and bbq facilities

Location: quiet and secluded but right on the esplanade not too long a walk into town, also there was a small supermarket half a block away

Value for money: very good value for money

Overall comments: We stayed at 181 in December 2005 for a week and could not have found anywhere better or better value (I looked at about 20 other places!). The self-catering apartment was very comfortable and well equipped, right on the esplanade but far enough out of the centre to be quiet, although close enough that we chose to walk along the esplanade into town for evening meals (a nice stroll next to the sea). We had a first-floor apartment with no sea views, but we didn't miss them as the large balcony was surrounded by lush greenery and birds with pleasant breezes. Higher apartments must have a fantastic views! For value it was much cheaper than anywhere else of the same standard, and well in the range of several places I looked at of much lower quality a few blocks away from the esplanade, so there was no contest, we got high luxury at a very affordable price! The managers, Glenice and Laurie were friendly and helpful but not obtrusive. We liked it so much that we decided to stay an extra few days, which was arranged with no fuss at all, and when, on the day we were due to leave, my car broke down, they let us keep the room until the afternoon (at no extra cost) while I went to a local mechanic to fix it. I was extremely impressed both with the apartment and the style of management, and would recommend anyone visiting cairns to stay here!
