Set amongst the heart of the Kakadu National Park, Gagudju Lodge Cooinda offers 48 spacious air-conditioned lodge rooms with convenient access to all amenities and park attractions.
Gagudju Lodge Cooinda spreads beneath a canopy of trees beside Yellow Water Billabong in Kakadu National Park, one of the few World Heritage areas listed for both cultural and natural heritage, and one of the world?s great nature reserves.
Kakadu is home to about one third of Australia?s bird species and this spectacular natural aviary is well represented at Yellow Water, from the comb-crested Jacana to hawks, eagles and the magnificent Brolga and Jabiru.
Plentiful fish provide a food source - for the large population of crocodiles.
Gagudju Lodge Cooinda is the base for the world renowned Yellow Water Cruises, where crocodiles, birds and occasionally wild horses are seen amongst paperbark forests, pandanus, freshwater mangroves and exotic tropical trees. Fishing charters are also available.
The Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre, better known as ?the turtle? is located less than 1km by road or 15 minutes bush walk from the hotel. ?The Turtle? offers a walk- through Aboriginal cultural display area, cinema shows and an Aboriginal arts and crafts shop.
Mimi Restaurant is open for dinner from 6.30pm to 9.00pm presenting a dining experience of some of the finest Australian bush cuisine. A predominantly Australian wine list, which features wines from top producers throughout the country accompanies local delicacies such as Kangaroo, Barramundi, Emu and Crocodile served with tangy fruits and aromatic herbs.
The Barra Bistro offers guests the experience of cooking their own local delicacies on a supplied barbecue with an accompanying buffet. The Barra Bar has takeaway beverage facilities and is open until 9.00pm.
